Traditional Shepherd’s pie Recipe

Everybody loves a good old and classic Shepherd pie Recipes. And it’s good to be armed with a simple to made Traditional Shepherd pie  because you never know when someone craves for it and makes a special request for feast on a warm and delicious pie for lunch!

This easy Shepherd pie takes 30 minutes to make and serves 6.

Shepherd’s pie Ingredients

  1. 1 pound lean ground beef
  2. 1 medium onion, chopped
  3. 10-ounce package frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
  4. 1/4 cup water
  5. 10 ounce can condensed tomato soup
  6. 1 teaspoon Worchestershire sauce
  7. 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
  8. 20-ounce package refrigerated mashed potatoes or 3 cups leftover mashed potatoes
  9. 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (2 ounces)

Shepherd pie Cooking method

  1. In a large pan, cook the ground beef and onion until the meat is brown and onions is tender. Drain off the fat.
  2. Stir in the mixed vegetables and water into the meat mixture in the pan. Bring to boil and reduce the heat.
  3. Cover and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Stir in the tomato soup, Worchestershire sauce and thyme. Return to boiling and reduce heat.
  5. Place the mashed potatoes on top of the hot mixture and sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Cover the let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, or until potatoes are heated through.
