Easy Falafel Recipe | Best Falafel Recipe 👌
Falafel is a popular food
throughout the Middle East, and more recently has also become common in
Europe, the United States, and other locations in the world. The main
ingredient in a falafel recipe is ground beans, either chickpeas
(garbanzo) or fava beans. It can be eaten by itself, or several can be
served inside of a pita bread. Sometimes, falafel is covered with chili
sauce, pickled vegetables, salad, or a sauce containing tahini (ground
sesame seed paste).

The ingredients for this food are not difficult to come by, and once you have
them and the proper tools, you can use this falafel recipe, or a modified
version, to make the dish in your own kitchen. The overall time estimate to
cook this is roughly 2 hours, with 1 hour and 45 minutes allocated for
cooking, and the rest for preparation. If you refrigerate the mixture prior to
forming the balls, then an additional 3 hours of inactive time should be
considered for that cooling period.
Falafel Ingredients
- 16 oz. chickpeas (1 can).
- 3 tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped.
- 1 onion, chopped.
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped.
- 1 tsp. cumin.
- 1 tsp. coriander.
- 2 tbsp. flour.
- Ground black pepper and salt, to taste.
- Olive oil (to fry).
- Tomatoes, peppers, etc. (garnish).
- Sauce (tahini, chili, etc.).
Falafel Preparation
Drain the chickpeas from their can. Note that you can also use dried
ones, in which case you would want roughly 1 cup prior to being cooked.
The dry chickpeas should be soaked overnight before you cook them. Put the
chickpeas along with fresh water in a pot, and bring the water to a boil
for 5 minutes, followed by a 1 hour simmer. Afterward, drain the beans and
let them cool.
Mix the chickpeas with the rest
of the ingredients through the ground pepper and salt. Then, using either
a food processor or simply mashing by hand, blend these ingredients
together until they are mixed well. It should not necessarily end up as a
puree, but simply a thick paste.
Allow the mixture to refrigerate for a few hours until cold. Then, make
small balls from it, perhaps anywhere from a little over an inch to two
inches in diameter. Heat 2 to 3 inches of oil to 375 degrees, ensuring
that there is enough to sufficiently cover the balls, considering that
some of the oil will leave the pot. You can try frying several at a time,
while giving about 3 minutes on each side (about 6 minutes total). The
color should turn out as a brownish, golden hue.
Best Authentic Falafel Recipe
This Falafel Recipe is my
personal favorite quick and easy to make healthy snack. I eat this every
morning. It goes great with my oatmeal oats. There are many different
variations on this theme, but one that I love is to serve the falafel as a
hot breakfast sandwich on whole grain bread with a little lettuce and
tomato. I love the taste of the falafel, it's very filling without being
too oily. You've now finished this falafel recipe! Serve them while hot, possibly
with pita bread.
