Red Hot Apples Ingredients

  1. 8 apples
  2. 8 cinnamon red hot candies
  3. 3 cups white sugar
  4. ½ cup water
  5. 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  6. ½ cup white corn syrup

Red Apples Preparation

  1. Put a wooden stick into the bottom of each apple.
  2. Grease a baking sheet.
  3. Combine the corn syrup, sugar, and water in a heavy pan over a medium heat.
  4. Heat it to about 280 degrees F without stirring.
  5. If you do not have a thermometer, it is ready when a little bit of syrup dropped into cold water forms pliable but firm threads.
  6. Remove the syrup from the heat and stir in the food coloring and candies.
  7. Twirl each apple in the syrup, tilting the pan so the apples are covered.
  8. Put them on the baking sheet to cool.
