Vegetable Sushi Rolls with Crab
Crab Summer Rolls, You can make these delicious Japanese inspired treats with either real crab or imitation crab. Both types are frequently used for sushi. Unlike many sushi rolls, ours uses a rice wrapper that lets you see the ingredients inside. For those who do not care for nori, or seaweed, these wrappers are a nice change of pace that allows them to enjoy many types of sushi. Look at how pretty our summer rolls look with the imitation crab, green lettuce and other ingredients showing through the sides and poking out of the top.

Crab Summer Rolls

Traditional sushi chefs may use these rice wrappers to create summer rolls. You can see how pretty they are at your local sushi restaurants as all the fresh ingredients show through. Summer rolls are refreshing and delicious. You can follow our recipe, or experiment on your own. Feel free to add fruit, vegetables, or meats to your summer rolls. Do not be afraid to have some fun.



Crab Summer Rolls

Summer rolls make excellent appetizers or they can be a part of the main meal. In sushi restaurants, visitors often choose many different dishes. You can make several dishes up as well if you wish to offer a more authentic Asian experience. You can also just have fun making a delicious dish that you love with your favorite ingredients. You can get rice wrappers and rice vermicelli at local Asian markets. You may also sometimes find them in the Asian cuisine aisle at your local supermarket, depending on your area.

Crab Roll Sushi Ingredients

  1. 8 rice paper wrappers
  2. 8 ounces imitation crab sticks
  3. 1 cucumber, cut into matchsticks
  4. 8 leaves Bibb lettuce
  5. Japanese mayonnaise
  6. 1 package rice vermicelli

Crab Roll Sushi Preparation

  1. Prepare all your ingredients beforehand so you can easily assemble the summer rolls. Cut your cucumber into matchsticks and slice your crab sticks into thin sheets. Lay out your ingredients so they are handy.
  2. Boil the rice vermicelli for 4 minutes; drain and set aside.
  3. Dip each side of the rice paper briefly in water. Do not let it soak too long. Place the wrapper on a plate.
  4. Assemble the filling: lettuce, vermicelli, cucumber, mayonnaise, and crab. You want them all piled on one side so they are on top of each other.
  5. Roll the rice wrapper as tightly as you can around the filling. You can fold the edges over on the end for a nicer finish. The pieces will stick to itself.
  6. Repeat with all the summer rolls.
  7. Slice each roll into 4 even pieces.

Many people who are not overly fond of the seaweed wrapper on some types of sushi really enjoy these summer rolls. The rice wrapper does not provide a lot of flavor like the seaweed. These rolls are often filled with fresh vegetables like lettuce, carrots, and cucumbers. They are also good with meats, rice vermicelli noodles and many other ingredients.
