Sweet Potato Skin Recipe
This is such an easy recipe and combining a tasty Sweet  potato skins recipe with a simple dip gives you two deliciously easy party appetizers in one. A blue cheese dip is the perfect accompaniment to this wonderful sweet potato recipe but you could try garlic mayonnaise, homemade salsa, or even guacamole if the rich flavor of blue cheese is not to your liking.

Sweet Potato Skin

The baked potatoes are really easy to make and you only need to cut them up and grease them. There are only two ingredients required for making potato skins. Everyone loves potatoes and potato skins and if you are looking for hot appetizer recipes you are going to adore this one. The house smells great while they bake too.
If you do not have canola oil spray you can either use a different cooking spray or rub on some oil with your fingers, being careful not to apply too much. Sweet potatoes are an interesting ingredient for appetizers because they are quite unusual in flavor. You can either use sweet potatoes or yams. These are two different potato varieties and sweet potatoes come in white, yellow, or orange. The flavors are quite similar though, so just choose whichever you want to use.

Sweet Potato Skin Ingredients

  1. 8 small sweet potatoes, peeled
  2. Canola oil spray

Sweet Potato Skins Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
  2. Cut the sweet potatoes into long wedges, which are about ½ inch thick and transfer them to a non stick baking sheet.
  3. Coat them lightly with cooking spray, then bake for 30 minutes or until they are tender and crisp.
  4. You will need to turn them once or twice during the 30 minutes.
  5. Transfer the sweet potatoes to a warmed serving dish and serve immediately, with some blue cheese dip on the side.

Eat Sweet Potato Skin

Sweet Potato Skin
These sweet potato skins are hot and mouthwatering and they go so well with the creamy, cool blue cheese dip. You can see from this photo that they are nice with some coarsely ground salt and black pepper on them. This looks nice and it also boosts their flavor. If you are making mashed potatoes with sweet potatoes, you might want to mash in some honey and butter but if you are making baked sweet potato wedges, you can bake them with some oil or butter and that is enough, since the flavor will come both from the potatoes themselves and the delicious dip.
