Indonesian Green Beans

Indonesian Green Spiced Beans

one in all the simplest famed facet dishes is Green Spiced Beans (long beans), usually referred to as sambalboontjes.

Indonesian Green Spiced Beans Ingredients:

  1. 1 lb. green beans
  2. 1/4 cup shallots
  3. 3 cloves garlic sliced very thinly
  4. 2 green hot pepper sliced
  5. 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  6. 1 1/2 tsp minced ginger root
  7. 3/4 cup chopped canned tomatoes
  8. 2 tsp hot chili paste
  9. 1 tsp granulated sugar
  10. 2 tsp lemon or lime juice
  11. 2 tbsp extra-virgin peanut oil or olive oil
  12. 2 tsp Kikkoman sauce (soy sauce)
  13. Dash of  oyster sauce

Indonesian Green Beans Cooking method

  1. Cut beans diagonally about 2 inches in length; set aside
  2. Using a skillet or a wok, heat oil, fry shallots, garlic, hot peppers and add cumin seeds cooking until shallots are light golden color.
  3. Add beans, shredded coconut, stirring for another 3 minutes.
  4. Add oyster sauce and stir-fry for another minute before adding the chopped tomatoes (canned).
  5. Stir-fry until beans are tender and crispy.
  6. If there is a problem with sticking, just sprinkle a little water over the stir-fry.
  7. Stir in lime juice and Kikkoman sauce.
